~The Long Movie Summary~

*Note: Toby Turner's character is not important in the slightest bit... He was literally just filler to the movie*

*Second Note: I did not watch the whole movie... I watched half... because it was a little too slow paced for me, and I don't like watching people just go insane... it's not my thing... I watched 50 minutes of it and then just skipped to the ending*

*Third Note: This movie got many bad reviews, and even though I didn't finish it, I give it.... 4 out of 10 stars (better than some)*

The movie starts off with a Jump Scare... because a little girl wanted to get the attention of her older sister, and obviously the only way to separate a teen/young adult from her phone is to wear a scary mask and.. well.. scare the s**t out of her. (Sarcasm) The little tech girl goes on a website called "Hide and Go Chat" which resembles a popular chatting website "Chat Roulette". The older sister inquires her what was this site,  and the girl goes on to explain. In her explanation  she also explains about "An urban legend" about how if you type "I did it for the lulz" 3 times, psychopathic killer "Smiley" would appear behind the person you were chatting with and kill that person... making you basically a murder. She obviously thinks it's stupid, which any sane person would, and goes on the chat site. She meets this guy who types the saying 3 times, and bam, Smiley appears and kills her.

The story goes on about a mentally fragile girl named Ashley. Back in her senior year of high school, her mother had unexpectedly committed suicide. This led to a mental breakdown for Ashley, as it would for anyone.

Ashley, now a beginning freshman at college moves away from home and dorms with Proxy, another college student who was of need of a room mate. Unfamiliar with the new environment, and the new freedom she possesses, she follows her new room mate's lead. With Roxy, she smokes Marijuana, drinks, and goes to some random party, that even Roxy doesn't know the people. There they meet Zane, another important character, other random unimportant guys, and Binder.

Apparently Ashley lived in a cardboard box, and knows little to nothing about the internet. At the party, the guys there, Zane and other guys who aren't important, are chatting on "Hide and Go Chat" and meets the girl from the beginning of the movie, and are the ones who typed in "I did it for the lulz" and witnesses her death. They all laugh, and say of what a hilarious joke it was, and little Ashley becomes spooked by this, and gets made fun of for actually believing it's real (Those bastards).

Ashley comes late to her first class, which Mark (Toby Turner) is in, and all the class scenes are just filler to the movie... (But honestly I believe the movie had too much filler, making it quite stuffed and slightly boring)

Later Ashley and Proxy see a viral video of one of the guys at the party being killed by Smiley. Spooked they decide to test out the theory, and see if it's actually real. They test it on some guy with 'a little weenie' and he gets killed by Smiley. Both are very scared and really don't know what to do at this point. Proxy says to just forget about it, and pretend it never happened.

She then goes to the library.. just because she can, and bumps into Binder, she then befriends him, and... yeah. They're now friends..

The rest of the movie is unimportant because I skipped nearly half of  it, but basically the rest is just Ashley's mental health taking a dive, making her literally... crazy. She feels that Smiley is stalking her, and is going to kill her.

The ending was... crule. The main character, Ashley, was being pranked the whole time by most of the people at the campus... Including her friends Proxy, and Binder. They were all "Smiley" and led her to believe that Smiley was stalking her, and at the end, she was chased by the gang of 'Smiley's' and jumped out a window, resulting in her death. No remorse was given, as the fake Smiley's high fived each other and gave a truly... 'inspirational' speech how it was all for the lulz. The Character Zane then talks to Proxy on the chat-roulette like website, and just for fun, he types "It's all about the lulz" 3 times... Little was he aware that the real Smiley would actually come and kill her. The end credits roll, and the movie is now done.

Movie to Life: This ending... reminded me much of a fairly recent news story, of how a town tricked a poor girl into thinking she was the upcoming Homecoming queen. When she found out it was all "for the lulz" she thought of committing suicide. Everyone then felt really bad (Unlike in the movie) and decided to actually make her the Homecoming Queen, and gave her a free gown, free professional makeover, free professional hair makeover. Something like this truly sickens me, and I really hope this will never happen again, nor have "Smiley" come to life, ever.

~Also, The ending contradicts the beginning, because it shows that the person who was first naive about it all, and then getting killed, was onto this whole demented joke thing... it gives that "Heavy Rain" vibe going on... Didn't care for it.~
